Looking for Forever Homes
Hudson
🐾 Introducing gorgeous Hudson. He is a nearly five year old, neutered and vaccinated rockstar! He is a SUPER HAPPY golden retriever who wants to play all the time. Ball obsessed. He is a quick learner and very dog friendly. He is crate trained, house broken and rarely barks. He LOVES the car. 🐾 Hudson’s tail is ALWAYS wagging. He’s good with kids. And, again, he will do anything for a ball. He’s very affectionate. Hudson chases cats, so we will not place him in a house with cats. He’d love a big yard and an active owner. He is a big time counter surfer and regular food gulper, so will need instruction on those particular manners. He is good on a leash. He’s a big and strong boy. 🐾Hudson is located in Sequim, Wa. We will try to place him as close to where he is currently located as possible with one of our fully vetted and approved applicants.
Kodi
🐾Introducing beautiful 3 year old Kodi. Kodi is kiddo friendly. She’s spayed and vaccinated. Kodi got the short end of the stick in life. She was banished to a crate at a young age and as a result, doesn’t know how to play well with other animals. She can for a while, but hasn’t had the training to adhere to animal boundaries. She lives in a crate 20 hours a day. This is heartbreaking. 🐾If given the opportunity, Kodi is very playful, has high energy and is down to play fetch for hours or go for a run or long walk. And she is also very cuddly and wants to lounge next to her person. She needs a second opportunity at life. She’ll need to be the queen of her castle and start off as the only pet in her new house. Kodi tries to kill small farm animals like birds, chickens and rabbits. She will need one on one training to overcome her very high prey drive. 🐾Kodi loves going for runs/walks but can be a puller as she gets so excited. Understandable given her mostly crated life. Kodi would love an adopter who will work with her to acclimate her to the life she deserves- full of walks, pets, cuddles, love and freedom. Located in Rigby, Idaho.
Maple
🐾Introducing 4 year old Maple. She is the sweetest girl and a puppy at heart. Maple was used by a breeder and has had at least three litters of puppies. She had her last litter in April and is slightly overweight. She will need lots of exercise and to be spayed. She’s good with other dogs and has been great with the surrendering families young kids. 🐾Maple loves to play fetch and is very strong. She enjoys tug toys. She will play for hours! Maple is great in the car and does well on her leash. She loves to get in between your legs for some extra pets and attention. This pretty girl is so gentle. Unknown around cats although she has been non-responsive to stray cats near where she is currently living. She came from a “breeder” that had many acres and was used to living outside. 🐾Maple is now house trained, as well as crate trained. However, given that she lived outside for her first several years, she will likely need a strict routine and gentle reminders often until she acclimates into her new environment. 🐾Maple is in a foster situation in Utah.
Adopted Goldens
Alumni of the rescue, settled in with the families who adopted them.
Luca
Introducing Luca…a darling golden doodle. Luca is nearly two and neutered. He is a total lovebug. He is smaller, around 40lbs. Located in Meridian, Idaho. Due to severe allergies in their home and a pending overseas move, his current family is looking for a forever home for this loving goofball (and his best pal, Bowie) He would do well in a home with younger kids (current home has a 9 and 12 year old) and other dogs. He is perfect on a leash. He is so friendly he’d likely go home with anyone, so will need recall work if he is out of the home off his leash (dog park or hiking). He is great in a car. Luca tends to like to dig but has never tried to get out of his fenced yard. He has not been around cats. He is crate trained. He will need an active owner as he is used to 3-4 miles of on leash walks a day and nonstop playtime with his nearly 3 year old “brother”, Bowie (also available for adoption). Luca has a beef allergy so that will need to be avoided in his diet. He does like to jump up on humans softly upon greeting, as well as when playing. Please contact us for an application and arrange a time to meet this awesome young dog!
Bronco (Chet)
🐾Introducing sweet older Bronco-an absolute big hunk of love. We worked with a Shelter In Utah to pull this guy out-he was brought in as a stray. 🐾We estimate him to be around 9–10 years old, neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. He’s big-85-90 pounds. 🐾We are hoping to find Bronco a home where he can spend his days lounging comfortably and relaxing. 🐾Bronco is a very easygoing boy who doesn't mind being around other dogs. He seems to enjoy their company whether they are energetic and playful or calm and relaxed like he is. He loves going on walks and is always happy to accept a tasty treat. While he doesn't mind toys, he would much rather explore his surroundings, enjoy some time outside, and then settle down and relax. 🐾When Bronco arrived at the shelter, he was severely matted-a concern that he may not have been receiving the care he needed. We have been doing our best to carefully groom him and make him more comfortable. During this process, we also discovered a lump on his neck that we are monitoring closely. We would love for him to be in an environment where he can receive the attention and veterinary care appropriate for a senior dog. IDGRR can help with this. 🐾We absolutely adore Bronco and really want to see him spend his next chapter somewhere safe and comfortable. He is such a gentle, easygoing boy, and we feel he deserves a quiet place where he can relax, be spoiled, and simply enjoy being someone's companion. 🐾Bronco is currently in Foster In Utah and we are working to get him to Boise. Please reach out to us if you’d like to meet this wonderful senior as soon as we get him here.
Lily
🐾Introducing active and uber friendly Lily. Sweet Lily is 11 months old. We are working to get her updated on her vaccines and spayed. She is your typical 11 month old puppy, very active, loving, and will need some work on her training. 🐾 Lily is crate trained and a bit under socialized as she and her sister, Iris, were surrendered by a “breeder“. Unknown behavior around cats. 🐾 These precious girls are located in eastern Washington/Northern Idaho.
Megora "Meg" (Tikka)
🐾Introducing 4 1/2 year old ultra sweet Meg. Meg is kind and loves ALL people, especially little kids. She loves all toys and loves to chew on kongs, sticks and balls. Meg loves to fetch, but may not bring it back. She has good recall and loves walking and hiking AND mud. 🐾From her surrendering family “Meg is an amazing family dog. She loves kids so much and is so excited to just have them near her. She interacts well with all people, even strangers. She just can't get enough attention. She’s great with our other two female dogs as well.” 🐾Meg knows place, sit, down and is crate trained. Meg rides well in a car crated, but can pant a lot. She can be an escape artist if not properly engaged and does chew small items when left unattended. Exercise and routine may help overcome these naughty habits. She can piddle when nervous or excited. 🐾 Meg is in Boise and we will do our best to place her with our existing vetted applicants. 🐾Meg can be anxious in new situations and will need some work getting acclimated. Meg has not been exposed to cats, however, her docile nature would likely set her up for success in a cat friendly home. 🐾We are working to get her spayed.
River (Clover Creek)
🐾Meet 5 year old River. She’s a loving, smart cuddly girl. She’s been raised with very young children and cats. 🐾 She is potty trained, crate trained, and totally trustworthy in a house. 🐾River is great on a leash and very social. She will need to be spayed and updated on vaccines. 🐾From her surrendering family “ River is friendly, gentle, and has a loyal personality. She is intelligent, eager to please, and thrives on spending time with any human. She is patient and has an affectionate nature, making her a wonderful companion for children and adults. She has a playful spirit and will bring you joy. She loves green tennis balls, tug a war and large stuffed dog toys. She will retrieve her ball back to you when you tell her to drop. She loves walk, swimming and cuddles.” 🐾River is located in Boise, Idaho and we will place her as close to Boise as possible. Preference given to existing vetted applicants.
Ivory
🐾Introducing almost 4 year old Ivory. This blond 55 pound Golden girl has a true golden heart. She is so unbelievably sweet and just wants to be around her people. She’s the best player of fetch, movie/news watching companion and all around snuggle bug. She is excellent in the car, loves water, loves her toys and is wonderful with young children. She is excellent on a leash. 🐾 Ivory is in Wilder. She was purchased from a breeder in Pennsylvania to potentially be bred in Idaho about a month ago. While she is quite good with most of the dogs in her new home, she can be dog selective. There are several other dogs in the surrendering families home and she occasionally spars with a few of them. This is likely due to the fact that she is not spayed. This will need to be done as soon as possible by her new adopter. 🐾Ivory is wonderful with the cats in her current situation-she even eats right next to a few of them. However, if they do run, she will chase them to play, but not harm them 🐾IDGRR is NOT accepting new applications on Ivory.
Sephy (Callie)
🐾Sephy is a gentle and loving three year old lounge lizard. She is great hanging with her people or lounging out in the yard. 🐾Sephy and her sibling are being surrendered as the owner’s work schedules have changed and they realize that these beautiful and sweet Golden’s deserve much more attention from their humans 🐾As always, IDGRR does our best to place these incredible rescues as close to where they are being surrendered as possible. In this case, it is Richland Washington. As such, transport may be available.
Polly Pocket
Ms. Polly Pocket is a lovely, sweet, happy and brave puppy with some special needs. She is blind. She may have some neurological issues. She needs to be fed four times a day and gets meds three times a day. As such, Polly will require a very unique home environment. Please only apply if you have extensive experience with a special needs dog. The breeder will be handling interviews. Polly is okay with other dogs, but not very active ones. She would do just fine on her own. The vet is not sure if she will live a full Golden lifespan.
Belle (Bella)
🐾Introducing smart, gorgeous Belle! Belle turns one on September 22. She’s in Boise. Belle loves people and thinks everyone wants to be her best friend. She is a quick learner and will do just about anything for food. Belle is ultra love able and funny. She likes to do summersaults, ending up flat on her back for belly rubs. She has a beautiful dark red coat. 🐾 Belle is being painstakingly surrendered as her owners are older, and realize she needs an active household willing to work on her training skills and give her the attention she needs. Belle is a field red golden, and will excel with structure and patience. 🐾 Belle is a total love sponge and prefers to sleep on the bed next to you. She has access to a crate and occasionally goes into it. Belle is up to date on her vaccines. Belle loves the car. 🐾 Belle is not yet spayed and we will be working to get this completed soon. She does well with other dogs and has not been raised with cats. She also has not been raised with children, although we think she would adapt and do well with older children. 🐾 As always, IDGRR gives preference to our previously vetted adopters in the Boise area, as we try to place our rescues as close to where they are being surrendered as possible.
Cora
🐾Introducing Cora. Cora is a beautiful 7 yo English Cream Golden Retriever. She is being surrendered by her family as their 13 yo Golden (Cora’s mom) recently passed away. Cora and her mom have been living outside for the last two years. Prior to that they were inside dogs. She’s currently in Foster with our executive Director in Boise. 🐾Cora will need to be spayed and updated on vaccines. IDGRR will pay for these important services if her Adopter is unable to. 🐾According to her family, she loves snuggles and car rides. She is eager to please and learns quickly. She enjoys peanut butter snacks and playing in the water. She is very loyal to her family. 🐾Cora will need a home with either a large male dog or might enjoy being the queen of her castle. She chases cats. She will need a home with children over the age of 12, due to her size. She has been raised with 6 kids. 🐾Cora knows basic commands, down, sit and lay down. 🐾IDGRR tries our best to place our rescues as close to where they are being surrendered as possible. In some circumstances, this is not possible, and we are potentially willing to transport.
Bubbles
This big lovable girl needs her golden retirement home! She full of personality, as her name suggests. Born in Ukraine, overbred in the US, Bubbles needs some TLC. She’s larger and will need work on her weight. She’s just about perfect in every other way.
Eli
💕🐾Introducing 4 year old Eli. This handsome hunk of love is a beautiful active neutered Golden Retriever. He is located in Boise. Eli loves everyone! He loves to play with other dogs and will snuggle with your kids and cat. Eli is a fantastic dog. 🐾💕From his foster around an ideal forever home for Eli “He loves to play, so maybe someone with a younger dog(s) that wants to play. House dog- he sleeps on my daughter's bed at night. Someone not opposed to a crate where he can feel safe when they leave. Kids would be great (he is really sweet with special needs kids too). I know if someone had the time and patience to invest in him that Eli would do great. As he is so high energy, Eli will need someone who understands he needs 3 weeks to fully decompress. He will pant a lot and feel stress. He’s very intuitive. Trust the process. He is a runner so someone that knows he has to be monitored for the first few weeks. Once he knows home-base he will come right back. You could literally pull his tail, pull cheatgrass from his toes, sticks your head in his mouth, take his food, he does not care. He is not food aggressive and he is good about waiting his turn to be fed.” 🐾💕 Eli will need a very active situation. He’s great on leash. 💕🐾We welcome new applications. If you’ve already submitted an application with us, and you want to meet Eli, please reach out. We will do our best to accommodate existing applications if we think they are a good fit. 🐾💕Please have patience with us. We are currently a volunteer rescue. It takes a great deal of time to place these special rescues in as close to a perfect fit as possible.
Buddy
🐾Introducing 4.5 year old Buddy. This handsome big guy needs to be the only pet in his new forever home. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. 🐾Buddy is crate trained, house trained and has been raised with 5 kiddos (newborn to 13 year old). He is a big, strong 80 pound boy and loves to “hug” and “mouth”, so could use some training around this. 🐾Buddy is being painstakingly surrendered because he consistently fights with the 6 year old male Golden in the home. He is AKC registered. 🐾Buddy does well at the groomer. He can be a bit of a trash collector (who doesn’t love leftovers, socks and plastic toys?), so will need close monitoring as he settles into his new environment. 🐾Buddy will do best in a very active household. He’s a field bred Golden Retriever and needs A LOT of exercise and attention. He loves his humans and wants to be near them 💯. 🐾Again, we will only adopt Buddy into a home without any other pets. If we already have your application on file and you have no other pets in the household, AND you are near Boise/Kuna, please reach out. We are giving priority to those that have applications on file with us in the Boise area that have no other pets. At this time we are excepting new applications in homes that have no other pets in the Boise area. 🐾 And as always, please be patient with us as we are currently a volunteer based Rescue. Kind comments, only.
Dolly
🐾Dolly is currently in foster with our executive director in Boise. This special big boned 5 yo spayed golden retriever is a loving and very sweet gal. She gets along well with most other dogs and all humans. She prefers to sleep in a human bed, right next to you, if possible. 🐾She is a typical golden retriever and always has a toy in her mouth. She loves attention from humans and other dogs. Dolly reportedly chased/sparred with a cat at her previous home, so will need a home without cats. 🐾We will only place her in a house with a fenced yard and doggie door (unless the adopter is retired/works from home/is home a lot). She loves women! 🐾Best traits: She smiles with her eyes. She has a little mohawk on her head. She’s a complete Velcro dog. 🐾 Dolly rides well in the car and while she doesn’t swim, appreciates lying down in a backyard pool or any body of water. 🐾Dolly is not super active, and will need to be acclimated to any sort of exercise beyond walking a few blocks. If you are looking for your new best friend, Dolly is here waiting for you! She is perfect on a leash. 🐾 Dolly is in Boise and as such, we will place her in the area.
Jonah Blue Haven
🐾Jo is very bright, loves to play fetch, loves cuddles and loves the water. He will swim right out into the lake to fetch a stick for you! He is a very sweet boy who gets along with everyone. He has been raised with another golden and several cats. 🐾Best traits: Jo is always there to greet friends and family at the door when they come for a visit. He loves to go for walks, hikes and play ball in the back yard. He is full of energy but is also able to sit by your side while you're reading, studying, or relaxing and watching TV. 🐾Jo is fairly food driven and will likely keep an eye on you while you're cooking, in case something drops on the floor of course! If you're looking for an all around sweet, energetic dog to go places with or just hang out at home, this is your new best friend! 🐾Located in Sagle. IDGRR will only adopt Jonah to approved applicants in Northern Idaho.
Buck
🐾 Introducing 2 yo neutered Buck. Buck is a playful, loving dog who enjoys fetching a tennis ball any time of the day! He has been with his surrendering family since he was about 9 weeks old. He has lived with a now 7 year old labradoodle, a teen boy and his mom and dad. He does great with older kids but sees younger ones as equals and doesn't really have spacial awareness with them. He loves food and will attempt to share yours if you don't make sure he understands it isn't up for grabs-so he needs a puzzle bowl for his feeding because he tends to eat quickly and will attempt to eat other dog's food after he finishes his. Buck loves his fenced yard and he enjoys playing outdoors but has never had to stay outside alone. Because of their poor health, he has never learned to walk on a leash on a regular basis. He travels well in a car and can use the leash for potty stops. 🐾We believe leash training will be an easy thing for him. He is a house dog who is crate trained but doesn't require the crate when you leave. He will sleep in his crate but also enjoys sleeping on the bed with his people. He loves to learn new tricks and knows sit, leave it, roll over (only gets half way though), catches treats, fetches a ball. He will lay still and hang out with you if you are watching tv or he will run and play outside with you 🐾 We think he would love to learn to swim and hike but needs to have some training so he grasps all aspects of listening for his safety and better enjoyment of outdoor activities. He has been well loved all his days and we want only the best for this sweet guy. We’d like him to be with a family who can devote time to him and is active. 🐾Buck is 2 years young and learns quickly. He is the sweetest guy and gets so excited to do things and spend time with his people! He has potential to be a great outdoor companion with the right training. 🐾 Priority given to existing IDGRR approved applicants.
Summer
🐾🌸 Introducing Summer, a gorgeous AKC registered 6-year-old female Golden Retriever. Summer is currently in foster in Boise. She will be spayed next week. She’s doing well and has been out on walks and is doing great meeting other dogs. 💕🐾Summer was surrendered because the family can no longer provide the time and attention she deserves. She will need a bit of a reminder on her manners, she appreciates human food and can jump up occasionally on counters to check on food options. 🌸🐾From her former family “Summer is such a loving dog and loves to be around people and we have been feeling that her quality of life could be better with another family who is more inclined to have her in their house and take her on adventures with them. We are at a point in life where we are stretched pretty thin taking care of the things we need to and just don’t feel like we are giving her what she deserves.” 🐾🌸Summer had been with her family (including 7 kids) since she was a puppy, is house and crate trained, and is very friendly with people and children. She is microchipped and current on core vaccines. There is no history of bites or human aggression, though she is a typical retriever and has chased after birds in her yard. Summer was raised with a cat and while she doesn’t harm them, she can chase upon first meeting them. 🌸🐾Summer is used to sleeping both in and outdoors. She was very loving with the 7 kids in the family. The family that surrendered her wants her to go into an active home with less chaos where she can be the focal point. She lacks socialization around other dogs but quickly acclimates once introduced. 🐾🌸As always, we try to place our rescues as close as possible to where they are being surrendered. We give priority to those with applications on file with us. Please be patient as we are currently 💯 volunteer based and there is only one person on staff. It takes a lot of time for us to make sure that we place a dog in as close to a perfect situation as possible. If you have an application on file and would like to be considered for Summer, please email us.
Winnie
Winnie is awesome. She’s the perfect package. Outgoing, loving, great with everyone and all other dogs.
Roman (Romo)
This loving goofball needs an active home. He has some mild ear issues and allergies. He’s great around humans and all other dogs. He’ll need some work on his recall as he’s not used to be let out of his yard.
Sally
Kind hearted Sally has had a tough ride. She was bred way too early. Jostled from home to home. She needs stability and routine. She is very high energy, yet settles down to snuggle. She’ll need serious recall work and a secure fence.
Nala (Sadie)
🐾Introducing social and energetic, Nala. Nala is 10 months old. She is a darling, lighter colored, small Golden Retriever. She makes the cutest sounds when carrying around her toys. Nala is in foster with our executive director and is doing well. 🐾What we know-she is awesome with every dog she’s met. She’s good on walks with a harness. She has been mostly pottied trained. She will whine when she wants to go out. She is a voracious eater. 🐾She’s very active and will gently mouth your hands for attention or a ball. She’ll need some training. She paws at the counter if she thinks she’s getting a snack but minds well when told no. She hops up on couches and beds. She’s very docile with humans and other dogs. She’s an athlete and an excellent swimmer. 🐾These sweet sisters were surrendered to IDGRR because the owners are moving out of the state to a smaller space. Nala will need to be spayed. IDGRR will pay for this at SNIP or Idaho Humane Society if the adopter is unable to pay for it. 🐾They had been raised as outside dogs and slept in a climate controlled garage. They are crate trained, and have been trained on Halo collars. They have been living with free rein of a very large amount of property and chase ducks. 🐾 They have been raised with many kids as young as 2, 4, 6, and 8. 🐾They are incredibly sweet and loving youngsters. They have not been raised around cats and did chase ducks/birds/chickens on their property. 🐾As always, please have patience with us as we are still a volunteer organization with only one staff member. We are reaching out to our approved Boise applicants. Mazi, her sibling, has been adopted.
Remi
This gorgeous friendly goofy love bug will make anyone fall in love with Golden Retrievers for life! Remi is the most adorable and perfect dog.
Axel
🐾We will only adopt Axel and Harley together. These two fantastic English Creams are seriously the most amazing dogs-you’d would be super lucky to adopt them. 🐾Axel is a 7 year-old neutered gorgeous English Cream Golden. He is great with kids (raised with 8, 10 and 12 years olds). He’s great with cats and other dogs. He can bark at bit but is quickly corrected. He’s a love puddle. He’s excellent on leash and in the car. 🐾Please reach out to us if you are an approved applicant to talk more about Axel. Ideally, we would like to keep them together, if at all possible. However, we are open to the perfect situation if needed to split them up.
Finn
🐾 IDGRR is working with our partner, Stella's Shelter Fund to get this guy set up for success! Finn is in a two week board and train program. We are confident Finn will be an interactive and well-behaved dog post training. This training program will include his new Adopter in the process. He will be released Tuesday, October 27th. 🐾Finn likes to swim, does well in the car and loves his yard time. He loves his human connections. 🐾Finn has been around kids-2 to 8 and does well. We envision Finn doing well with an experienced handler, willing to spend time to create the deep bond that he had with his previous family. Finn was recently an only dog and could potentially connect with another dog and do well, but may need some time to make this work. He did well with two small dogs from the surrendering families’ in laws.
Harley
🐾We will only adopt Axel and Harley together. These two incredible dogs are sure to make anyone happy. They are spectacular. 🐾 Harley is a spayed, super sweet and cuddly English Cream. She will need some work on a leash but is doing better with a harness. She has some initial anxiety in cars. She is a very well mannered and loving dog. 🐾She has grown up with three children, a small dog and cat. 🐾Bonded pair of English cream Goldens. Please reach out to us if you are an approved applicant with IDGRR.
Benny
🐾Introducing 5.1 year old Benny. He is neutered. He is a bit rambunctious, yet can be well-behaved and he is great with kids. Benny loves toys and is always ready to play. He has good recall. 🐾Benny is good in a car, loves swimming, is house trained and is very food motivated. Benny is a talker and can demand bark a bit. He is obsessed with toys and fearless. He’s been raised with cats. He love kids, is okay on leash and LOVES his ball. 🐾 Benny will need to lose some weight. He’s a big boy. He’ll need a dental check up and a huge grooming session. He came to us very matted. He loves all the attention and lets Murphy groom him. Located in Boise. Hoping to place Murphy and Benny together as they are a bonded pair.
Tim (Remy)
🐾 Introducing Tim! Tim is a Flat Coat retriever mix. He is a rambunctious 1 yo that was recently neutered, is up to date on vaccines and is micro chipped. He reportedly does well with children, although because he is so young, and does jump, we recommend houses with children over the age of five. Tim is currently in Foster in Nampa. 🐾Tim is the sweetest boy and does great in the house, in the car and on walks. He loves playing with most dogs. He is a dominant dog and may do best with a more submissive playmate. 🐾Tim is being surrendered by his newly adopted owner of 5 days. He was brought in as a stray at West Valley Humane Society where he spent several weeks waiting to get neutered. His new adopter quickly realized that having a rambunctious youngster in a small apartment does not work well for Tim. He will need an active situation. He has some separation anxiety and will need a home where he is not left alone often, or with adopters who are able to spend time training him to feel safe when left alone. 🐾IDGRR tries our best to adopt to our vetted adopters as close to where the rescue is being surrendered.
Buddy
Meet Adoptable Buddy! 🐾Buddy is a loving, active, curious heartthrob. He’s a Golden Retriever mix. He’s a sweet youngster (1.5). While we don’t normally accept Golden mixes into our rescue program, this uber friendly guy is an exception. He’ll melt your heart. 🐾Buddy is goofy, happy, well trained and has been very loved. He was surrendered to us only because his elderly owners could no longer care for him. They’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. 🐾Buddy is crate trained, potty trained, so cuddly and an absolute gem of a dog. He’ll need to be neutered (our intake vet is out of town right now). He is fantastic on a leash, plays perfectly with other dogs and kids, all people really. 🐾Buddy will need regular brushing and has not been on many car rides. Once he’s in the car, he settles right down. He’ll need recall work as he’s rarely been let off leash. He is used to a big fenced yard that he stays in. He’ll likely dig and chew as he’s young. 🐾Buddy is real people pleaser and you’ll be lucky to get this guy into your life! Please fill out our adoption application and email or call us for a meet and greet. Located in Boise.
💙🐾 Introducing Beau, an 8-month-old red Golden Retriever weighing 65 pounds. His vaccines will be updated and he will need to be neutered. He’s located in Hayden, Idaho. At this time, we are accepting applications from Northern Idaho/Eastern Washington only. 🐾💙This big boy is strong and active. Beau is being surrendered because his retired owners lack time and patience for his necessary training. 🐾💙Beau was obtained from a friend of theirs at eight weeks old. He is house and crate trained. 🐾💙Beau has a super friendly temperament and no history of bites or aggression. Aside from typical puppy behaviors like digging and chewing, no behavioral concerns exist. Unknown behavior around cats. 💙🐾Beau has been raised with a German Shepherd and they are good friends. He has not been raised with children, so will need slow introductions. 🐾💙Please have patience with us as we want to find a fantastic forever home for Beau.
Milo
🐾 Introducing nearly 1 year old Milo. He’s a big, strong, active, loving and handsome youngster. Milo is great in a car, loves the water, and will be a perfect hiking buddy. 🐾Milo is great with kids and other dogs. He has been around cats and is very curious, but so far is not chasing them. He would love another dog to play with. He will need a fair amount of training and lots of exercise. He is very lovable and learns quickly. He will need to be neutered. He’s very smart and wants to please. He’s house trained. 🐾Please reach out to us to meet him. Located in Carmen/Salmon, Idaho. Willing to transport for the right fit.
Oakley
Oakley is a sweet girl who loves getting her pets. She loves water and hunting and her other animal friends as well as children. Best traits: She is not gun shy. She is very independent and she loves her cat friends. And she will find any water she can to get into although she did stay away from the surrendering families pool. Markings: knows Come, sit, stay
Josie
🐾💕 Josie is a lovely, sweet 7-8 year old Golden Retriever. She is awesome with our 14 month old submissive Golden Retriever, Jasper, as well as when she is off leash at our local dog park. We swooped her up from a shelter and she’s so happy we did! The feeling is mutual. 💕🐾Josie is recently spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She is microchipped. Josie is healthy and active. She is wonderful walking on her harness and loves the car. Josie’s happy go lucky spirit is intact despite being surrendered on May 13th. We have had her with us since May 21. She is thriving! 🐾💕Her previous owners supposedly had her from the time she was a puppy and said she was raised with kiddos, ages 7, 5. She has been fine around all of the neighborhood children. 🐾💕A fenced yard is a prerequisite as she loves to be outside. She adores watching squirrels run around and loves to play fetch. A cat, bird and chicken free home are essential given how much she likes to chase squirrels. 💕🐾Josie will gently paw at you for pets. She prefers couches (can you blame her?) and minds right away when you ask her to get down. She can pull very hard if she sees a squirrel out walking. She loves her toys and bones. 💕🐾Her recall is excellent in a yard and the house. She can get wild if let off leash on a farm or trail, so will need strict supervision until she’s used to her new surroundings. She knows several commands, sit, stay, paw and heel. 💕🐾Her surrender described her as friendly, affectionate, loving and playful. We wholeheartedly agree! 🐾💕Josie has exhibited perfect manners with most other dogs while in foster with our Executive Director. She has been in a serious dogfight with one of her previous foster’s resident dogs. She had recently been spayed and we are hopeful it was an isolated incident. She was supposedly surrendered for fighting once with a small dog in her previous home. Josie a total love bug and deserves to be well loved in her older years. She would need to meet any other dogs first prior to being adopted into a home with other dogs. She might do best as an only dog. 💕🐾She barks at the appropriate times, like at the mail carrier, big trucks or the occasional passerby. She is very gentle with her humans. 💕🐾Josie has captured our hearts at IDGRR. She’s a very special girl, and as such we will be very selective to find her the perfect home. We are in no rush as we love continuing to see her incredibly loving personality unfold as she gets more comfortable each day in our care.

Annie
🐾Introducing Annie, a super sweet spayed 3-4 year old Golden Retriever/Lab. Annie is currently in foster in Shelley, Idaho. 🐾While we are still learning more about her, we know that she is kid, cat and dog friendly. From her foster “Annie is such a good girl. She definitely loves humans. She has been on two walks now which she gets excited about and does need some leash work. She has done really well until she sees another dog (besides Pepper) then she wants to greet them. Annie did sleep through the night, is definitely house trained and figured out the dog door in under 12 hours. 🐾Annie did really well with her foster cat, doesn’t chase her they just keep checking each other out. 🐾She is protective of her food. She was raised with a guardian dog which she reportedly got along with well. This may explain some of her resource guarding around food. 🐾 Annie played well with another 11 month old female Golden and is being introduced to her Foster families older male Golden. They walk well together but have not yet engaged in play. 🐾Annie has been living with 8 kids-ages 2-12. 🐾 Annie’s family surrendered her because one family member recently had a stroke and has become overwhelmed with everything going on. 🐾IDGRR is looking for a loving and stable adopt situation for Annie, preferably in eastern Idaho.
Opal
🐾 IDGRR is proud to introduce sweet, nearly four year-old spayed Opal. This pretty honey colored girl is amazing with most anyone as well as most other dogs and cats, although she can take a few minutes to warm up and will likely bark upon first greetings. Once she trusts you, she will be your best pal and sit on your lap all day long, if you let her. 🐾Opal will need to lose some weight in her new home. She is a big strong girl-77 pounds. She walks OK using a harness and will need some training as she is not used to being walked regularly. She is incredibly sweet and ready to hop up in your lap-that being said, she does get up on furniture and she likes to lounge on your couch and ottoman. 🐾 Opal has been raised with a three month old baby and a 2 1/2 year-old toddler. Her surrendering family has had her since she was eight weeks old and is painstakingly surrendering her due to changes in their work schedule. Opal has grown up with a border collie mix as well as a cat. 🐾 Opal will let you know when a stranger approaches. She barks and will need some lessons on introductions. She will eventually stop when corrected. 🐾 Opal rides fairly well in a car. She seems to have great recall in the yard and will need to get used to her new owner‘s voice before trusting her off leash. Opal has had some personal training and knows sit, stay, shake, lay down, come. She is trustworthy in the house for long periods of time. Opal is very food motivated and will do most anything for a treat. She’ll need a reminder on her manners around taking human food out of your hand. She also can jump up if she gets anxious or excited. 🐾Preference given to existing Boise area applicants.

Rosie-Our Miracle Golden Girl (Ruby)
🐾Are you ready to be this miracle girl’s superhero? Introducing 1.5 year old Rosie. Rosie has quite a story. This super sweet Golden Girl was sold by a “breeder” on KSL who was leaving the country. She was in a temporary foster situation and got scared. She went missing for…14 days! There were sightings the first several days, then nothing. Fast forward to day 12 of Rosie missing…she showed up in someone’s backyard-7 miles from where she’d gotten out! 🐾After a huge community effort, they successfully trapped Rosie and she was joyfully reunited with her foster. She’s been decompressing and has been checked out by a vet. She is up to date on vaccines. Her bloodwork is normal. She’ll need to be spayed asap. 🐾Rosie is ready to relax, be loved and spoiled-as the only dog in the household. Understandably, she is exhibiting a bit of resource guarding around her Foster’s Golden. She fended for herself for 14 days and was one of many dogs at the “breeder” home. This can very likely be trained out of her, eventually. She needs a loving home with patience and time to rebuild her trust. She’s weary and is steering away from other dogs when out walking (out of fear). This poor pup has been through so much in her short life. 🐾Rosie loves humans, walks, naps, and FETCH! Ball is life for this sweet girl! She is very good on a leash and house trained. She can be a bit shy towards men. She rides well in a car. We think she would do well in the house with another dog. We recommend older kids as she still jumps up and doesn’t quite know her size and strength. A securely fenced backyard is preferred. Annie will need some work on her recall. Annie will also need to be spayed. 🐾Annie is located in Boise. We are NOT accepting any new applications on Annie. We will try to place her in the Boise area with our existing approved applicants (recently approved applicants, please feel free to reach out as well).

He gets excited when kids want to play with him and include him in fetch. Buck loves being in the outdoors and running around. He loves to swim when given the chance. Buck is very good with our two young boys (ages 1 and 2). They have pulled his hair, tried riding him and played fetch and he is very patient with them. Buck does have a little bit of anxiety when it comes to being home alone so we do play music for him when we leave to help relieve the stress. He does great around other dogs and wants to play with them. He does pull on the leash so we do use a gentle leader.” 🐾Buck is great in a car, loves playing in lakes and rivers, is house trained and would do well with another active dog.
