Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Effective Date: September 10, 2026

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as when you create an account; fill out an adoption, foster, or volunteer application; ask us to take in a dog; make a donation; or contact us. Depending on what you use, this may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and the answers you give on our forms.

Some of what you send is a file rather than a form — photographs of a dog, vaccination records, and similar documents you choose to upload.

When you sign an adoption or foster agreement on this site, we record the name you type as your signature, the date and time, and the IP address and browser you signed from. That record is what makes the signature verifiable afterwards.

We may also collect certain information automatically when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, through cookies and similar technologies.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Process adoption, foster, and volunteer applications
  • Communicate with you about our programs and events
  • Process donations and send tax receipts
  • Keep a record of agreements you have signed with us
  • Improve our website and services
  • Comply with legal obligations

Information Sharing

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

We do rely on a small number of service providers to run this website, and your information passes through them:

  • Stripe processes donations and fees. Card numbers are entered on Stripe's own payment page and never reach our servers; we keep only Stripe's reference numbers and the amount.
  • Brevo delivers the email this site sends, such as receipts, application updates, and sign-in links.
  • Amazon Web Services stores the photographs and documents uploaded to the site.
  • Render hosts the website and its database.
  • Sentry receives a report when something on the site breaks, configured not to include personal information.

We share only what each provider needs in order to do its job, and none of them is permitted to use your information for their own marketing. We may also disclose your information when required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to keep you signed in, to remember small preferences such as whether you have dismissed a notice, and to keep our forms secure. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party tracking or analytics on this site.

You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though signing in and submitting forms will not work without them.

Email You Receive From Us

Some email is part of something you started — a donation receipt, an update on your application or surrender request, a sign-in link, or a copy of what you submitted. We send those when the event happens.

Everything else is optional, and off unless you turn it on. If you have an account, you can choose which optional email you receive, at any time, from the Preferences page in your account.

Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites such as donation platforms and social media. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at info@idgrr.org. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

If you have an account, you can review and update much of your own information, and change which optional email you receive, from your account pages.
