Looking for Forever Homes

Kodi

$600 3 years
Location: Rigby, ID
3 years Female 65 lbs Fixed

🐾Introducing beautiful 3 year old Kodi. Kodi is kiddo friendly. She’s spayed and vaccinated. Kodi got the short end of the stick in life. She was banished to a crate at a young age and as a result, doesn’t know how to play well with other animals. She can for a while, but hasn’t had the training to adhere to animal boundaries. She lives in a crate 20 hours a day. This is heartbreaking. 🐾If given the opportunity, Kodi is very playful, has high energy and is down to play fetch for hours or go for a run or long walk. And she is also very cuddly and wants to lounge next to her person. She needs a second opportunity at life. She’ll need to be the queen of her castle and start off as the only pet in her new house. Kodi tries to kill small farm animals like birds, chickens and rabbits. She will need one on one training to overcome her very high prey drive. 🐾Kodi loves going for runs/walks but can be a puller as she gets so excited. Understandable given her mostly crated life. Kodi would love an adopter who will work with her to acclimate her to the life she deserves- full of walks, pets, cuddles, love and freedom. Located in Rigby, Idaho.

Hudson

$700 4 years, 8 months
Location: Sequim, WA
4 years, 8 months Male 70 lbs Fixed

🐾 Introducing gorgeous Hudson. He is a nearly five year old, neutered and vaccinated rockstar! He is a SUPER HAPPY golden retriever who wants to play all the time. Ball obsessed. He is a quick learner and very dog friendly. He is crate trained, house broken and rarely barks. He LOVES the car. 🐾 Hudson’s tail is ALWAYS wagging. He’s good with kids. And, again, he will do anything for a ball. He’s very affectionate. Hudson chases cats, so we will not place him in a house with cats. He’d love a big yard and an active owner. He is a big time counter surfer and regular food gulper, so will need instruction on those particular manners. He is good on a leash. He’s a big and strong boy. 🐾Hudson is located in Sequim, Wa. We will try to place him as close to where he is currently located as possible with one of our fully vetted and approved applicants.

Maple

$600 4 years
Location: Provo, UT
4 years Female 90 lbs

🐾Introducing 4 year old Maple. She is the sweetest girl and a puppy at heart. Maple was used by a breeder and has had at least three litters of puppies. She had her last litter in April and is slightly overweight. She will need lots of exercise and to be spayed. She’s good with other dogs and has been great with the surrendering families young kids. 🐾Maple loves to play fetch and is very strong. She enjoys tug toys. She will play for hours! Maple is great in the car and does well on her leash. She loves to get in between your legs for some extra pets and attention. This pretty girl is so gentle. Unknown around cats although she has been non-responsive to stray cats near where she is currently living. She came from a “breeder” that had many acres and was used to living outside. 🐾Maple is now house trained, as well as crate trained. However, given that she lived outside for her first several years, she will likely need a strict routine and gentle reminders often until she acclimates into her new environment. 🐾Maple is in a foster situation in Utah.

Dolly, a rescue dog through IDGRR
Adopted

Dolly

5 years, 8 months
Location: Boise, ID
5 years, 8 months Female 96 lbs Fixed

🐾Dolly is currently in foster with our executive director in Boise. This special big boned 5 yo spayed golden retriever is a loving and very sweet gal. She gets along well with most other dogs and all humans. She prefers to sleep in a human bed, right next to you, if possible. 🐾She is a typical golden retriever and always has a toy in her mouth. She loves attention from humans and other dogs. Dolly reportedly chased/sparred with a cat at her previous home, so will need a home without cats. 🐾We will only place her in a house with a fenced yard and doggie door (unless the adopter is retired/works from home/is home a lot). She loves women! 🐾Best traits: She smiles with her eyes. She has a little mohawk on her head. She’s a complete Velcro dog. 🐾 Dolly rides well in the car and while she doesn’t swim, appreciates lying down in a backyard pool or any body of water. 🐾Dolly is not super active, and will need to be acclimated to any sort of exercise beyond walking a few blocks. If you are looking for your new best friend, Dolly is here waiting for you! She is perfect on a leash. 🐾 Dolly is in Boise and as such, we will place her in the area.

River, a rescue dog through IDGRR
Adopted
Location: Boise, ID
5 years Female 65 lbs

🐾Meet 5 year old River. She’s a loving, smart cuddly girl. She’s been raised with very young children and cats. 🐾 She is potty trained, crate trained, and totally trustworthy in a house. 🐾River is great on a leash and very social. She has a playful spirit and will bring you joy. She loves green tennis balls, tug a war and large stuffed dog toys. She will retrieve her ball back to you when you tell her to drop. TOBY

3 years, 1 month
Location: Hayden, ID
3 years, 1 month Male 90 lbs Fixed

🐾Introducing 3 year old Toby! Toby is a big boy with lots of energy to bring to his new home. He’s good with other dogs and unknown around cats. Because of his size, we recommend kids over 5-he’s been around kids as young as 2. 🐾 From his surrendering family-“TOBY IS VERY SWEET, AFFECTIONATE AND SOCIAL. HE WANTS TO BE IN THE MIX OF WHAT’S GOING ON ALWAYS! HE NEEDS INTERACTION AND ACTIVITY. HE IS BIG AND LOVES TO PLAY. THIS HAS CAUSED SOME CHALLENGES WITH OUR OLDER DOG. TOBY NEEDS MORE TIME FROM HIS NEXT OWNERS. HE WANTS TO BE MORE INVOLVED IN THE DAY-TO-DAY LIFE OF HIS FAMILY... MORE THAN WE CAN PROVIDE AT THIS TIME. HE WOULD DO WELL WITH A LARGER STAY-AT-HOME FAMILY WITH KIDS, OTHER BIG DOGS, AND LAND... A "FARM" SETTING WOULD BE GREAT FOR HIM. HE IS VERY SENSORY AND NEEDS ACTIVITY” 🐾Toby plays well with the other dog in his current home, yet doesn’t recognize his size. He’s a bull in a china shop. He’s a bit too rough for their older dog, so will fair better with another dog of similar size and energy. He’s an opportunistic eater. 🐾Toby is sweet, social, and interactive. He loves to play and is clumsy. He rides well in a car/truck. He loves the water. He prefers to be the center of attention. Toby does well on a harness/leash combo. He will need room to roam. He prefers to sleep inside, but could also sleep in a climate controlled kennel. 🐾Toby is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines. 🐾 Per IDGRR’s protocol, we will place Toby as close to Northern Idaho as possible with preference given to our already vetted applicants.

Adopted

Opal

3 years, 8 months
Location: Boise, ID
3 years, 8 months Female 77 lbs Fixed

🐾 IDGRR is proud to introduce sweet, nearly four year-old spayed Opal. This pretty honey colored girl is amazing with most anyone as well as most other dogs and cats, although she can take a few minutes to warm up and will likely bark upon first greetings. Once she trusts you, she will be your best pal and sit on your lap all day long, if you let her. 🐾Opal will need to lose some weight in her new home. She is a big strong girl-77 pounds. She walks OK using a harness and will need some training as she is not used to being walked regularly. She is incredibly sweet and ready to hop up in your lap-that being said, she does get up on furniture and she likes to lounge on your couch and ottoman. 🐾 Opal has been raised with a three month old baby and a 2 1/2 year-old toddler. Her surrendering family has had her since she was eight weeks old and is painstakingly surrendering her due to changes in their work schedule. Opal has grown up with a border collie mix as well as a cat. 🐾 Opal will let you know when a stranger approaches. She barks and will need some lessons on introductions. She will eventually stop when corrected. 🐾 Opal rides fairly well in a car. She seems to have great recall in the yard and will need to get used to her new owner‘s voice before trusting her off leash. Opal has had some personal training and knows sit, stay, shake, lay down, come. She is trustworthy in the house for long periods of time. Opal is very food motivated and will do most anything for a treat. She’ll need a reminder on her manners around taking human food out of your hand. She also can jump up if she gets anxious or excited. 🐾Preference given to existing Boise area applicants.

He may do best as an only dog with a very attentive and active family. Or a larger dog similar in energy level. 🐾He knows sit, walk on a leash, “load up” in the car, “outside go potty”, go get a treat, find your toy and is crate trained. 🐾Garth has been raised with kids, aged 6-19. He’s been raised with three other dogs and does well with small dogs-teacup yorkies up to high energy labs and wire haired pointers, but can be dominant. He hasn’t been raised with cats, however, given how gentle he is with their teacup Yorkie, would likely do fine. 🐾 Preference given to Boise area applicants.

Bronco (Chet)

9 years, 1 month
Location: Idaho
9 years, 1 month Male 85 lbs Fixed

🐾Introducing sweet older Bronco-an absolute big hunk of love. We worked with a Shelter In Utah to pull this guy out-he was brought in as a stray. 🐾We estimate him to be around 9–10 years old, neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. He’s big-85-90 pounds. 🐾We are hoping to find Bronco a home where he can spend his days lounging comfortably and relaxing. 🐾Bronco is a very easygoing boy who doesn't mind being around other dogs. He seems to enjoy their company whether they are energetic and playful or calm and relaxed like he is. He loves going on walks and is always happy to accept a tasty treat. While he doesn't mind toys, he would much rather explore his surroundings, enjoy some time outside, and then settle down and relax. 🐾When Bronco arrived at the shelter, he was severely matted-a concern that he may not have been receiving the care he needed. We have been doing our best to carefully groom him and make him more comfortable. During this process, we also discovered a lump on his neck that we are monitoring closely. We would love for him to be in an environment where he can receive the attention and veterinary care appropriate for a senior dog. IDGRR can help with this. 🐾We absolutely adore Bronco and really want to see him spend his next chapter somewhere safe and comfortable. He is such a gentle, easygoing boy, and we feel he deserves a quiet place where he can relax, be spoiled, and simply enjoy being someone's companion. 🐾Bronco is currently in Foster In Utah and we are working to get him to Boise. Please reach out to us if you’d like to meet this wonderful senior as soon as we get him here.

He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. 🐾Buddy is crate trained, house trained and has been raised with 5 kiddos (newborn to 13 year old). He is a big, strong 80 pound boy and loves to “hug” and “mouth”, so could use some training around this. 🐾Buddy is being painstakingly surrendered because he consistently fights with the 6 year old male Golden in the home. He is AKC registered. 🐾Buddy does well at the groomer. He can be a bit of a trash collector (who doesn’t love leftovers, socks and plastic toys?), so will need close monitoring as he settles into his new environment. 🐾Buddy will do best in a very active household. He’s a field bred Golden Retriever and needs A LOT of exercise and attention. He loves his humans and wants to be near them 💯. 🐾Again, we will only adopt Buddy into a home without any other pets. If we already have your application on file and you have no other pets in the household, AND you are near Boise/Kuna, please reach out. Finn

7 years, 5 months
Location: Boise, ID
7 years, 5 months Male 80 lbs Fixed

🐾 IDGRR is working with our partner, Stella's Shelter Fund to get this guy set up for success! Finn is in a two week board and train program. We are confident Finn will be an interactive and well-behaved dog post training. This training program will include his new Adopter in the process. He will be released Tuesday, October 27th. 🐾Finn likes to swim, does well in the car and loves his yard time. He loves his human connections. 🐾Finn has been around kids-2 to 8 and does well. We envision Finn doing well with an experienced handler, willing to spend time to create the deep bond that he had with his previous family. Finn was recently an only dog and could potentially connect with another dog and do well, but may need some time to make this work. He did well with two small dogs from the surrendering families’ in laws.

Luca

2 years, 5 months
Location: Meridian
2 years, 5 months Male 45 lbs Fixed

Introducing Luca…a darling golden doodle. Luca is nearly two and neutered. He is a total lovebug. He is smaller, around 40lbs. Located in Meridian, Idaho. Due to severe allergies in their home and a pending overseas move, his current family is looking for a forever home for this loving goofball (and his best pal, Bowie) He would do well in a home with younger kids (current home has a 9 and 12 year old) and other dogs. He is perfect on a leash. He is so friendly he’d likely go home with anyone, so will need recall work if he is out of the home off his leash (dog park or hiking). He is great in a car. Luca tends to like to dig but has never tried to get out of his fenced yard. He has not been around cats. He is crate trained. He will need an active owner as he is used to 3-4 miles of on leash walks a day and nonstop playtime with his nearly 3 year old “brother”, Bowie (also available for adoption). Luca has a beef allergy so that will need to be avoided in his diet. He does like to jump up on humans softly upon greeting, as well as when playing. He was surrendered to us only because his elderly owners could no longer care for him. They’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. 🐾Buddy is crate trained, potty trained, so cuddly and an absolute gem of a dog. He’ll need to be neutered (our intake vet is out of town right now). He is fantastic on a leash, plays perfectly with other dogs and kids, all people really. 🐾Buddy will need regular brushing and has not been on many car rides. Once he’s in the car, he settles right down. He’ll need recall work as he’s rarely been let off leash. He is used to a big fenced yard that he stays in. He’ll likely dig and chew as he’s young. 🐾Buddy is real people pleaser and you’ll be lucky to get this guy into your life! Please fill out our adoption application and email or call us for a meet and greet. Located in Boise.

Maple

1 year, 3 months
Location: Coeur d’Alene, ID
1 year, 3 months Female 56 lbs

🐾Introducing adoptable Maple. She is a sweet, 14 month old gorgeous Golden with adorable white tufts of fur on her chest and face. 🐾 Maple is an affectionate girl who loves being around people and wants to be part of whatever you are doing. She enjoys long walks, hiking, exploring new places, and rolling around in the grass. She has a naturally dominant personality, so she does best with someone who can provide clear boundaries, consistency, and confident leadership. With the right guidance, she settles in well and is eager to learn. 🐾Maple will need an active home and although she is crate trained, IDGRR wants her to go into a home where she’s left alone no longer than 3-4 hours. 🐾She’s excellent on a leash, has great recall and likes car rides. She spay is scheduled for August 20th. 🐾She is being surrendered as work schedules are causing Maple to be crated during the day. From her surrendering family-“At her best, Maple is an incredibly affectionate dog who wants to be with her people all of the time. She follows us room to room, loves to cuddle, greets us with full-body tail wags and plenty of kisses, and somehow ends up sleeping upside down. She loves hiking, playing with toys, and running around in the yard. She's even learning to enjoy the water. Maple is very smart, highly food motivated and picks up new commands quickly. She's made a lot of progress building her confidence and does especially well when she has patient, consistent leadership. She thrives when she has both mental and physical outlets and would do best with someone who enjoys training and wants an active, loyal companion” 🐾Maple is in Coeur d’Alene. As per IDGRR protocol, we try to place our rescues as close to where they are being surrendered as possible. 🐾 Maple has completed the following-Training: obedience level at Camp K-9 Post Falls; knows Sit, stay, down, heel, no, shake, place.; crate-trained. 🐾 Maple has not been raised in a house with kids, and we are unsure how she would interact, so we’ll only feel comfortable adopting into a home with children over the age of 12.
