About Lucy

🐾💕Loving, 5-6 year old Lucy is safely in foster care in Ketchum with one of our awesome board members.

😀🐾From her foster-“Lucy is brave, smart, and ready for adventure! She has loved our hikes, splashing in creeks, and meeting new humans. Lucy will do best in a home where she can spend the majority of her day with her people. She is not destructive, and will be so happy to follow you around the house/yard/work all day. She will need to be the only dog in her home. Lucy will stay with us while she is spayed and recovers. Lucy would love to find a home in Ketchum or a nearby mountain town.

🐾💕Her spay is scheduled for July 2nd. Our ideal home for Lucy is with a person/family with no other pets. She would do best with a routine and as little chaos as possible in the house, so probably only with teenagers. Lucy would greatly enjoy a fenced yard. We are welcoming applications from the Wood River Valley and surrounding areas. It is essential that she is the only pet in the household.

🌸🐾While we have had many great applicants hoping to meet Lucy, we want to reiterate that she must be the only pet in the household. She IS capable of getting along with other dogs, but we want to set both her and her new home up for success and as such, we will only adopt her into a home with no other pets.

😀 If we have your application on file and you have no other pets and think you would be a good fit for Lucy, please reach out to us. Again, we are a volunteer organization and may have missed reviewing your application, so please follow up with us accordingly.

💕🐾Lucy is a goofy, shy, and active smaller 5-6 year old Golden Retriever. She is currently in foster in Ketchum with a board member.

💕🐾 Her vaccines are up to date and she is scheduled for a spay on July 2. Lucy is decompressing nicely and had been getting along well with her previous foster’s older spayed Chihuahua mix until recently. (6/17). As such, her first foster has decided not to adapt her. They love her and she’s made so much progress under their incredible foster care. Lucy will need to be the only pet in her new home. Lucy needs a patient home willing to let her acclimate. She’s full of love for her humans.

💕🐾 From her foster family…”We love Lucy. She’s a sweet girl and loves her food. She does her special dinner dance and lights up in anticipation of mealtimes. Lucy is starting to really blossom. We are excited to see her personality come out now that she’s safe, loved and being well cared for. She’s sleeping comfortably inside now and enjoying being spoiled. Lucy likes to be queen of her castle and would do best as an only dog.”

🐾💕From her previous owners, “Lucy is a loving, goofy, playful, cuddle bug! She smiles the cutest little half smile you've ever seen! She loves taking walks and is pretty good at not pulling too much unless she gets excited. Like on her way to the park lol. She loves to play with my husband and is the most precious little cuddler with me.”

💕🐾Lucy had been living with several other dogs that were unaltered. She tangled consistently with their unspayed older dominant female Australian Shepherd and an unaltered male that was a recent addition to the household. This is very common for unaltered dogs living in close quarters. She got along with their other two spaniels. We rescued her from a pretty bad dog hoarding situation.

🐾💕Her previous family had her for three years. They had a 16 year old son that she had been around for those three years. As such, we recommend a home with kids over 12 as we do know she was great with their son. She is curious with cats but does not chase, according to her previous owners.

🐾💕Lucy slept in a kennel in a climate controlled garage and slept inside when it was her turn in the rotation. She doesn’t dig. She will need slow introductions to new situations.

💕🐾 Please reach out to us for an application to meet/foster/adopt this great Golden Retriever.
