Rio

Rio is a beautiful English Cream Golden Retriever. She needs a very specific home that can read her signs and give her the environment she needs to thrive.

She has a long history of resource guarding. Her current family is painstakingly giving her up. She nips and bites while guarding certain objects. It’s often random but mostly centered around food/garbage. She has been raised with and currently lives with a 3 and 5 year old and until recently, has not had bite issues for several years. This is a very unique situation and the owners think she could be successful in the right home without young kids. From her family, “She’s good on leash and walks. She gets curious about other dogs but doesn’t bark. She will pull if she sees something she wants to sniff but nothing crazy. We used to hike off leash all the time before children. She was really great at hiking. The only thing is she got kind of weird over the water bowl with other dogs. We know she will do well in a home without small children. She deserves a loving home.”

Rio goes to a groomer, camps, plays with the neighborhood kids and dogs and cuddles on couches with her humans. She’s very loving upon first meeting and wants to be pet constantly. She says hi to her neighbors and dogs and is a big fan of snuggles and pets.

Rio needs her ears cleaned and anal glands expressed regularly.
