About Josie

🐾💕 Josie is a lovely, sweet 7-8 year old Golden Retriever. She is awesome with our 14 month old submissive Golden Retriever, Jasper, as well as when she is off leash at our local dog park. We swooped her up from a shelter and she’s so happy we did! The feeling is mutual.

💕🐾Josie is recently spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She is microchipped. Josie is healthy and active. She is wonderful walking on her harness and loves the car. Josie’s happy go lucky spirit is intact despite being surrendered on May 13th. We have had her with us since May 21. She is thriving!

🐾💕Her previous owners supposedly had her from the time she was a puppy and said she was raised with kiddos, ages 7, 5. She has been fine around all of the neighborhood children.

🐾💕A fenced yard is a prerequisite as she loves to be outside. She adores watching squirrels run around and loves to play fetch. A cat, bird and chicken free home are essential given how much she likes to chase squirrels.

💕🐾Josie will gently paw at you for pets. She prefers couches (can you blame her?) and minds right away when you ask her to get down. She can pull very hard if she sees a squirrel out walking. She loves her toys and bones.

💕🐾Her recall is excellent in a yard and the house. She can get wild if let off leash on a farm or trail, so will need strict supervision until she’s used to her new surroundings. She knows several commands, sit, stay, paw and heel.

💕🐾Her surrender described her as friendly, affectionate, loving and playful. We wholeheartedly agree!

🐾💕Josie has exhibited perfect manners with most other dogs while in foster with our Executive Director. She has been in a serious dogfight with one of her previous foster’s resident dogs. She had recently been spayed and we are hopeful it was an isolated incident. She was supposedly surrendered for fighting once with a small dog in her previous home. Josie a total love bug and deserves to be well loved in her older years. She would need to meet any other dogs first prior to being adopted into a home with other dogs. She might do best as an only dog.

💕🐾She barks at the appropriate times, like at the mail carrier, big trucks or the occasional passerby. She is very gentle with her humans.

💕🐾Josie has captured our hearts at IDGRR. She’s a very special girl, and as such we will be very selective to find her the perfect home. We are in no rush as we love continuing to see her incredibly loving personality unfold as she gets more comfortable each day in our care.
